Monday, July 14th, 2008

We got this in an email, and as requested by one of our readers, we’re featuring Gorzki for the next three weeks.

Gorzki, aka Krzysztof Gorzkiewicz is not only a controversial rapper, but also a hip hop editor and promoter. He comes from Kalisz (joking KalishFornia :) ), where he started his work. His first contact with hip hop music was in 1992, when he heard House Of Pain, Public Enemy, Kriss Kross, MC Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Salt’n’Pepa, NWA or Cypress Hill. In 1995 he and his schoolmates started their first band Enemy Pain. The next step was the group RMK. In 1998 EK was established – a few years later this group became successful. The first success was an award at “Spazm” festival in Kalisz given by Sony Music Poland. After that they recorded their first professional record sponsored by Sony. Soon after that SPV Poland & Pomaton EMI company became interested in EK.

In 2001 they published the first EK album, which was one of the most controversial records in Polish hip hop. It sold very well, and the videos made by Room Pipe Studio could be seen at the top of charts lists. In 2002 Gorzki established his own label “MGK Records” based at MTJ Company. He bought up there many international music compilations featuring the stars of European hip hop (two parts of “His Hop Rasizm Stop”, where many nowadays popular artists had their debut (Owal / Emcedwa, Chłopaki z Szarego Tłumu, BRZ etc.; there were also some European stars like Ferris MC, MC Flowwimino, Toni L, Brixx, Eliott or American underground like Little Egipt or Yejide Akinlana). A year after that he founded his own record studio “AMSTAFF RECORDS”, which made compilations such as “Rap Style 1” featuring the world famous artists (i.e. Masta Ace, Grand Agent, Declaime, Mr. Complex) and “Rap Style 2” (featuring such artists as Sunz of Man, Hell Razah, Masta Ace, Jade Foxx, Eternia, K-Otix, BluRum13). There were also Gorzki’s music on both of these projects. At the moment the artist is working on his solo record. He invited many artists to co-operate: Grand Agent, JT Bigga Figga, Akon, Bizarre (D12), Mr.Complex, Jurassic 5, Killarmy etc.. Also many producers – like Tramp Baby (working for MOP, Fat Joe, Salt n Pepa, Pink), Dub L (Rahzel, Plane Asia, Das EFX …), Get Large (a great French producer workingwith Wu Tang Clan Family , Masta Ace), etc. At the end of 2004 a book by Dawid Kornaga “The searchers of stories” was published. One of the characters was a rapper nicknamed “Gorzki”. The author invited Gorzki to record a recitation of one chapter, which was attached to the book on CD.

2008 year is time of premiere new album from Gorzki about name "Kontrawersja". On album will be absolute stars of world hip hop as: Akon, JT Bigga Figga, Bizarre (D12), Killarmy / Wu Tang Clan, Mr.Complex, Grand Agent, Jurassic 5, Craig G etc. Gorzki be hosted also on albums of Soul Bros (Germany / USA) or Shaka Amazulu 7th (UK) with Cappadona, Canibus on one track etc. Contact with Gorzki: unclegorzki@gmail.com , and official website .
